A stone's throw from the center of Perugia (8 km) stands the Agriturismo La Fonte, immersed in the green of the Umbrian woods, under the old village surmounted by a splendid stone tower, overlooking the castle where Federico Barbarossa rested. The agritourism complex is the result of the renovation of farm buildings dating back to periods between 1600 and 1950 and its name derives from a stone source, built in the early 1900s, placed in a dominant position in the property. In the well-kept 18 hectares of countryside and woods that surround the buildings, as well as in the details with which the main house and the two buildings dedicated to accommodation were built, the passion of the owners emerges clearly, two Milanese who have always repented but undecided at the big step until the registry office has pressed them closely. The main farmhouse, home of the owners, is a building whose original body dates back to the eighteenth century. It belonged to a faithful servant of Pope Urban VIII who, to thank him for his services, gave him a gift of these lands. Bringing out the beautiful local stone with which it was built, eliminating some inconsistent additions accumulated over the years, providing it with a little comfort, were the main criteria that guided the renovation. From an old tool shed and a barn, the five guest apartments were then created, made with the same care with which the main house was finished and equipped with one or two double bedrooms. Soft pastel colors distinguish the rooms and convey the same quiet serenity that can be admired from the windows of the apartments, all overlooking the forest and the valley below. If you think that swimming in the saltwater pool (18x6) overlooking a clearing in the middle of the pine forest is too little rustic, you can go down a path and get to the pond where an underground spring will refresh your ideas even in the middle of a summer day. Various animals share with their owners the privilege of inhabiting this place; the horses with which the four children of Paola and Marco took their first steps in horseback riding graze quietly among the approximately 400 olive trees arranged amphitheatrically. A pair of sheep and two goats live blissfully together in a large enclosure in the pine forest that delimits the southern border of the property. Dogs and cats can obviously not miss in a farm estate, but do not be alarmed! They are few and very well educated, as if they still felt the Franciscan influence of these lands. The farm is open all year round.
