The Val d'Orcia is a wide Valley in the province of Siena, in Tuscany, to the northeast of Mount Amiata and close to the border with Umbria. Crossed by the River Orcia the Middle, which gives it its name, is characterized by pleasant landscaped vistas and from various centers of medieval origin, two of which are very known as Pienza and Montalcino. The Valley is also an important natural, artistic and cultural Park, and from July 2, 2004 has been recognised by UNESCO as a world heritage site, for the excellent state of preservation of the landscape, which has had a significant influence on many artists of the Renaissance.
