Franciacorta

Guide: Mountains and Valleys, Lombardia

Franciacorta – Lombardy: tidy vineyards, collected villages and glasses of classic method between the lake and the hills. Franciacorta is a hilly area in the province of Brescia, internationally known for the production of high quality sparkling wines according to the classic method. The territory extends between Lake Iseo and the plain, designed by rows of vines, panoramic roads, medieval abbeys and designer wineries. 🍇 Vineyards, cellars and guided tastings: Most of the wineries in the area can be visited by reservation. You can explore the vineyards, discover the production process of Franciacorta DOCG and taste different labels accompanied by local products. Hospitality is taken care of, with environments that combine tradition and contemporary architecture. 👉 Tip: Start from Erbusco or Adro and visit a historic winery in the morning: many offer guided tours with food pairings in the tasting room or on the panoramic terrace. 🚴 ♀️ Scenic roads through the vineyards: The entire area is crossed by secondary roads ideal for cycle tourism or for a slow car itinerary. The gentle hills allow for accessible climbs and relaxing descents, always accompanied by glimpses of the cultivated fields and the profiles of the mountains to the north. 👉 Tip: Follow the circular route that touches Passirano, Monticelli Brusati and Borgonato: it is dotted with vineyards, villas and small country sanctuaries. ⛪ Art and architecture of the time: Benedictine abbeys, castles, Romanesque churches and manor houses are hidden among the vineyards. Places of quiet and spirituality, but also testimonies of the agricultural history of the area. Some can be visited, others are part of historic residences now transformed into relais and restaurants. 👉 Tip: Visit the Monastery of San Pietro in Lamosa, in Provaglio d'Iseo: overlooking the peat bogs, it preserves frescoes and an atmosphere suspended between nature and sacred art. 🌿 Protected areas and green paths: Next to the vineyards, the Torbiere del Sebino Nature Reserve offers wooden walkways, reeds and a humid landscape populated by water birds. It is a perfect area for a relaxing walk or to observe the biodiversity of the lower lake. 👉 Tip: Start the nature trail at sunset: the grazing light on the body of water creates intense reflections and silences that amplify the experience. Franciacorta is a balance between precision and hospitality, where every detail – from the wine to the landscape – tells of care, continuity and a sense of place.
