Val Rendena

Guide: Mountains and Valleys, Trentino Alto Adige

Val Rendena – Trentino-Alto Adige. Alps, villages and outdoor activities in the heart of the Brenta. The Val Rendena develops along the course of the Sarca river, from Tione di Trento to Madonna di Campiglio. It is a valley nestled between the Brenta Dolomites and the Adamello-Presanella, perfect for active holidays, relaxation at high altitude and discovery of local flavors. ⛰️ Towering peaks and accessible green spaces: The landscape alternates between fir forests, mountain pastures and glaciers, with the Adamello Brenta Natural Park protecting much of the territory. The valley is ideal for trekking, high-altitude hiking, climbing and mountain biking. 👉 Tip: Reach the Tuckett Refuge from Vallesinella: open views and sheer Dolomite walls. 🚴 Trails and trails for all legs: From family-friendly circular routes to trails for experienced hikers, the valley offers plenty of choice. The Sarca cycle path is perfect for leisurely rides, while the paths towards Val Genova, Val d'Agola and Lago Ritorto offer unique scenery. 👉 Tip: Stop at the Nardis Waterfalls: accessible on foot and among the most beautiful in Trentino. 🏘️ Mountain villages and local history: Villages such as Pinzolo, Carisolo, Giustino and Caderzone preserve an alpine identity made of wood, stone and tradition. Pinzolo is also home to one of the most interesting medieval pictorial cycles in the Alps, on the façade of the Church of San Vigilio. 👉 Tip: Explore the village of Caderzone and visit the Malga Museum to learn about the rural life of yesteryear. 🍽️ Local taste and genuine products: The cuisine of the valley is robust and linked to the territory: polenta, cheeses such as Spressa, cured meats, mushrooms, game and homemade desserts. Alpine huts and restaurants offer simple dishes, often with zero-km ingredients. 👉 Tip: Try a snack in the mountain hut with black bread, fresh butter and honey while looking at the peaks of the Brenta. 🛌 Alpine hospitality and relaxation: In Val Rendena there are hotels for sportsmen, B&Bs, farmhouses and refuges. Madonna di Campiglio is the most touristic resort, but even the lower areas offer quiet, services and easy access to nature. 👉 Tip: If you are looking for tranquility, choose a site in Strembo or Spiazzo: a great starting point for exploring without crowds. Val Rendena is the perfect synthesis of sport, nature and tradition: a dynamic and welcoming valley, framed by spectacular mountains.
