Lake Corlo

Guide: Lakes, Veneto

Lake Corlo – Veneto: wild nature, silence of water and hidden villages in the Feltre area. Lake Corlo is located in the municipality of Arsiè, in the province of Belluno, on the border with Trentino. It is an artificial lake formed by the damming of the Cismon stream, set in a green and silent valley. Little known compared to other Venetian lakes, it is perfect for those looking for tranquility, nature and slow rhythms. 🏞️ A lake with an alpine atmosphere: Lake Corlo stands out for its jagged shores, dense forests and natural inlets. The waters are calm and clear, ideal for moments of relaxation or for non-invasive outdoor activities. The landscape, with glimpses of the dam and the surrounding mountains, changes color in every season. 👉 Tip: Stop along the shore near Rocca to enjoy an open view of the lake, also great for picnics or a break in the sun. 🚶 Walks and scenic routes: Around the lake there are paths and mule tracks that cross woods, bridges and old districts. One of the best known routes is the one that goes around the lake, easy, well marked and also suitable for occasional walkers. 👉 Tip: Take the loop tour of the lake (about 10 km): you will walk among nature, shady stretches and small glimpses of the dam, with perfect spots for photography. 🛶 Water activities and leisure: Lake Corlo is ideal for canoeing, sup, fishing and summer swimming. There are no speedboats, so the environment remains quiet and safe even for families. In summer it is possible to find equipped areas and small boat rentals. 👉 Tip: Early in the morning or late in the afternoon, rent a kayak to explore the quieter coves on the north side. 🍽️ Local cuisine and simple hospitality: In the surrounding area there are farmhouses and typical restaurants that offer dishes related to mountain cuisine: dumplings, Grappa cheeses, local cold cuts, polenta and homemade desserts. The offer is genuine, often with zero-km products. 👉 Tip: After a walk, stop at a trattoria in Arsiè or Fastro for an outdoor lunch and taste the alpine cheese with local honey. 🛏️ Where to sleep near the lake: The area offers campsites on the lake, B&Bs in the village and small hotels in panoramic positions. Arsiè is the main center, but the nearby hamlets are also well connected and quiet. Ideal for those looking for a holiday away from mass tourism. 👉 Tip: For an immersive experience, choose a campsite or site directly on the lake – waking up to the reflection of the water is the best way to start the day. Lake Corlo is a discreet and fascinating destination, perfect for those who love the mountains out of season, silent walks and landscapes still little touched by tourism.
