Val Tartano is a side valley of Valtellina. It is located in the province of Sondrio (Lombardy). The Valley opens up on the left bank of Valtellina at T and salt until Tartano pass that links Val Brembana. Is crossed by the river of the same name. Val Tartano is divided into two main valleys: Val Long and short. The Long Valley is dominated by Mount Illustrated (2483 m, top of the Brembana Valley, at the confluence of the highly scenic Val mother and Val Tartano. On this top was placed, in 1987, the statue of the Archangel Gabriele (known as the Angel of the illustrated) with the trifronte face, which looks in three different directions: North, East, South Val Brembana, Valmadre Val Tartano and watches on both sides with, why not repeated events that brought mourning marked the three valleys. Just below this peak, the Tartanolo, are the three lakes of Sty. Val Tartano is often the venue for important events and races. The Valley is part of the Parco delle Orobie Valtellinesi.
