Lake Annone – Lombardy: two shores, discreet nature and paths between water and countryside.
Lake Annone is located in the province of Lecco, between the municipalities of Annone Brianza, Oggiono and Civate. It is one of the largest lake basins in Brianza and stands out for its articulated shape, divided into two branches connected by a narrow canal. Its shores are dotted with reeds, meadows, woods and small wetlands, ideal habitats for numerous species of water birds. 🦆 Birdlife and silent landscapes:
The lake is home to grey herons, coots, mallards, grebes and other birds linked to the lake environment. Away from the busiest circuits, it is perfect for those who love to observe nature in peace, accompanied by the sound of water and the wind among the poplars.
👉 Tip: Bring binoculars and follow the more secluded sections of the cycle and pedestrian path: in the early hours of the day it is easier to spot birds moving through the reeds. 🚶 ♀️ Cycle and pedestrian paths and panoramic views:
A ring of about 14 km connects the various accesses to the lake, which can be traveled on foot or by bicycle. The route alternates stretches along the shore with passages in the countryside, with glimpses of the Lecco mountains and the calm waters of the basin. The route is suitable for everyone, well marked and immersed in the quiet of the rural landscape.
👉 Tip: Start from Oggiono and walk the south-east stretch to Civate: here the path opens onto wide meadows and offers beautiful views of Monte Cornizzolo. 🧺 Simple nature and regenerating breaks:
There are no beach clubs, but many grassy areas are ideal for sunbathing or picnicking. The lake is appreciated for its simplicity: no crowds, just space, silence and the possibility of spending hours without haste. Some sections are equipped with wooden benches and tables.
👉 Tip: Bring a backpack with everything you need for a day outdoors: water, packed lunch, and maybe a book. In summer, the light breezes make the weather pleasant even in the middle of the day. 🌿 A lake between nature, culture and small villages:
Around the lake there are small historic centers and archaeological areas, such as the ancient Pieve di San Pietro al Monte, which can be reached from Civate with an uphill walk. The territory retains a strong rural identity, made up of farmhouses, rows, meadows and vegetable gardens overlooking the water.
👉 Tip: After the walk, stop in Oggiono to enjoy the dishes of Brianza cuisine in a local trattoria: cold cuts, risotto, cheeses and a good glass of local wine complete the experience.
Lake Annone is a discreet and authentic place, where time seems to slow down and every path leads to glimpses that mix water, earth and sky.
