Description
Villa Arvedi has been documented since 1200 as a house owned by Mastino, Alberto and Cangrande della Scala. In 1432 it is described as: 'possession with crenellated house with wine torcolo and oil torcolo'. Located along the slope of a hill and bordered upstream by a cultivation of ancient olive trees and a thick forest of oaks and hornbeams. In the mid-1650s it was built on a design by the architect G.B. Bianchi in its current form. The hall on the first floor and the church are completely frescoed by Ludovico Dorigny (1654-1742). Other frescoes are by Farinati, Fralezza and Santo Prunati. At the center of the back courtyard is the baroque church dedicated to St. Charles Borromeo that tradition has it hosts during the journey to Trento for the Council of 1485. The majestic seventeenth-century Villa Allegri was purchased in 1824 by Giovanni Antonio Arvedi and is still owned by the Arvedi family. The Villa Arvedi is 9 kilometers from Verona, a few kilometers from the exits of the highways and the Catullo airport of Villafranca (VR), near Lake Garda, in the green Valpantena at the foot of the Lessini Mountains.
