Lake Ledro

Guide: Lakes, Trentino Alto Adige

Lake Ledro – Trentino-Alto Adige: transparent water, active nature and welcoming villages. Lake Ledro is located at about 650 meters above sea level, a few kilometers from Riva del Garda. It is one of the clearest alpine lakes in Trentino, surrounded by mountains, woods and small towns. It is an ideal destination for those looking for a holiday between relaxation, sport and green landscapes. 🏖️ Beaches, sports and clean water: The lake is completely swimmable, with four equipped beaches (Molina, Pieve, Mezzolago and Pur), perfect for swimming, sunbathing or canoeing, SUP and sailing. The waters, of glacial origin, are fresh and crystal clear, ideal in the summer months. 👉 Tip: Pur Beach is quieter and surrounded by greenery: ideal for those traveling with children or looking for silence. 🥾 Paths between lake and mountain: Around Lake Ledro there are easy walking paths and more challenging hiking trails. You can go all the way around the lake on foot or climb up to Val Concei and Cima d'Oro. The area is also suitable for MTB and light trekking. 👉 Tip: Walk along the "Ledro Land Art", a path immersed in the woods with art installations along the way. 🏺 History and culture to discover: In Molina di Ledro there is the Pile Dwelling Museum, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which tells the story of prehistoric life on the lake. It is an excellent stop for families and the curious, to be combined with a walk along the lakefront. 👉 Tip: After your visit, relax in the museum's gardens overlooking the water and the surrounding mountains. 🍽️ Mountain flavors and local cuisine: In the restaurants and refuges in the area you can taste typical Trentino dishes: carne salada, polenta, lake trout, alpine cheeses and homemade desserts. The offer is simple but authentic, often based on local ingredients. 👉 Tip: Try the 'casonziei' of Val di Ledro, a traditional stuffed pasta not to be missed. 🛏️ Where to rest surrounded by peace and greenery: The main places to stay overnight are Pieve di Ledro, Mezzolago and Molina, with B&Bs, campsites, family-run hotels and apartments. Many properties are close to the lake and offer a cozy and peaceful atmosphere. 👉 Tip: If you love nature, choose a place in Pur or Val Concei: absolute peace and hiking trails just outside the door. Lake Ledro is a complete destination: beaches, excursions, history and flavors in a relaxed environment, suitable for hikers, families and sportsmen.
