Our Holiday Home Poggio Aprico is located on a hill in the countryside surrounded by olive trees, cypresses, oleanders and holm oaks. It consists of five apartments, all independent, which overlook a large green park with swimming pool, barbecue and games for children. Each apartment has exclusive spaces: terrace, porch or gazebo. Next to us stands the Magona Castle, an old manor of the fifteenth century, which the Grand Dukes of Tuscany used as a hunting lodge when they came from Florence to the Maremma and classified by the Fine Arts as a Medici Villa; today transformed into tourist hotel accommodation. Behind us we are protected by hills, rich in olive groves and Mediterranean scrub, in front of us the gaze is lost in the cultivated fields up to the sea which is on average about ten kilometers away (products of excellence in our area are the Tuscan extra virgin olive oil that our company also produces, the wine, fruit and vegetables that the farmers sell directly to the consumer in the kiosks located along the roads). A tourist and historical attraction is the Island of Elba, which can be reached from the port of Piombino with an hour's ferry ride. The coastline is mainly low and sandy in the stretch between Marina di Castagneto and Follonica with generally golden beaches, with the exception of the promontory of Piombino, on the top of which stands Populonia, which divides the Gulf of Baratti from the Gulf of Follonica, marking at the same time the border between the Ligurian Sea and the Tyrrhenian Sea. Behind the beaches there are pine forests and woods equipped with services, bars and picnic tables. The clean and crystalline sea waters and the warm sun are the right and inviting ingredients to enjoy a nice refreshing bath. Our holiday home is completely autonomous from an energy point of view: all energy is produced from renewable sources through photovoltaic and solar panels.
