Val Genova - Valley of the Waterfalls

Guide: Mountains and Valleys, Trentino Alto Adige

Val Genova – Valley of the Waterfalls. Rushing waters and forests at the foot of the Adamello. Val Genova, also known as the Valley of the Waterfalls, is one of the most scenic valleys in Trentino. It extends from the bottom of the Pinzolo valley to the heart of the Adamello Brenta Natural Park, crossed by the Sarca stream in Genoa and surrounded by majestic peaks and glaciers. 💦 Monumental waterfalls and cool atmospheres: The valley is famous for its many waterfalls, especially the spectacular Nardis Waterfall, which with its drop of over 130 meters dominates the entrance to the valley. Other wonders such as Lares, Casina Muta and Folgorida follow, all within walking distance along comfortable paths. 👉 Tip: Start from the Ponte Verde car park and take the circular route that connects the main waterfalls in an ever-changing landscape. 🥾 Easy walks and high-altitude trekking: The routes in Val Genova are suitable for everyone: from walks in the woods to excursions to the Segantini, Bedole and Mandron refuges. Going up you enter the kingdom of the high mountains, among glaciers, moraines and glacial lakes. 👉 Tip: Go to the Mandron Refuge to admire the Adamello glacier up close, with a truly lunar landscape. 🌲 High-altitude forests and unspoiled nature: The entire valley is surrounded by a protected and varied nature: spruces, larches, mosses, streams and wild animals accompany every step. Here you can really hear the sound of the water and the forest, away from the crowded tourism. 👉 Tip: Stop at one of the viewpoints along the forest road for a picnic overlooking waterfalls and vertical walls. 🍽️ Alpine flavours at the foot of the Dolomites: The refuges and mountain huts offer simple and tasty local dishes: polenta with melted cheese, mushrooms, stews, homemade desserts. Ideal for a regenerating break after a hike. 👉 Tip: Have lunch at the Bedole Refuge to enjoy Trentino cuisine with local ingredients and a view of the peaks. 🛌 Overnight stays at high altitude and hospitality in the countryside: The valley offers alpine refuges, farmhouses at high altitude, small hotels and B&Bs in the surroundings of Pinzolo. The secluded location and proximity to the Park make it perfect for a holiday in nature. 👉 Tip: Stay in Carisolo or Pinzolo to be convenient to the valley, but with all the services at your fingertips. Val Genova is a place where water draws the mountain: each waterfall is an invitation to discover the strength and beauty of living nature.
