In the middle of nature in the hills of Lavacchio, between Marciana Marina and Poggio on the island of Elba, in the middle of fruit trees, chestnut trees and maritime pines, is the Trattoria da Luigi. Open since 1974 together with his wife Pinella, you can taste typical dishes of Tuscan cuisine following the ancient tradition. The restaurant maintains a warm and reserved climate thanks to the wooden beams, exposed bricks and terracotta floor; next to it there is a large terrace in the middle of unspoiled nature from which you can enjoy an excellent view of the valley and Monte Capanne. Pinella, Luigi's wife, is the only cook and her experience and passion has allowed the restaurant to always offer over the years a typically Tuscan and unique cuisine, rich in variety and choice: from the different tasty appetizers, to the exquisite first courses, pasta and gnocchi are homemade. Tagliatelle and pappardelle pulled strictly to the rolling pin, all seasoned with tasty sauces that tickle the palate. The menu also includes preparations without eggs and specifically for celiacs. The dishes are made exclusively with products of Italian origin, such as the excellent Chianina meat in mixed grills. Also try the kid and the local cockerel, cooked on the embers of wood. Lamb chops, brain and sweetbreads fried strictly in a pan with extra virgin olive oil. Tasty and delicious also the Wild Boar Stew with herbs, olives and fresh porcini mushrooms. All accompanied by a wide selection of wines from the best Tuscan and national wineries. The menu of the Trattoria da Luigi changes according to seasonal products. It is made with care using fresh and genuine products: in fact, the vegetables used come mainly from their garden and with the fruit they make excellent jams with which they stuff the desserts prepared by them. Specialties: Chiocciole alla Luigi: fresh pasta strictly homemade, without eggs, with a mixture of flavored herbs. Sauce prepared with fresh tomatoes from our garden, beaten garlic, parsley and basil. Stir-fried with cheese. Mandarin jam tart: homemade pasta with jam of our production; Spaghetti carbonara: fresh homemade pasta. Guanciale or bacon prepared by us, extra virgin olive oil, cheese and pepper; Pappardelle with wild boar: fresh homemade pappardelle. Wild boar cut into stew and melted with wine, oil, grappa and vinegar. Garlic, rosemary, bay leaf, peppercorns and a mixture of flavored herbs. Mixed vegetables at the buffet: vegetables prepared in the pan or grilled, seasoned with extra virgin olive oil, goats put in oil with a mixture of flavored herbs and served buffet.
